Know the Difference Between EDT and EDP

When you step out to buy a perfume, we are often bombarded with a lot of perfume jargons by the sales representative. He or she will start by explaining the type of perfumes, the notes it has along with other qualities. They will make every perfume sound amazing and you will love to buy them all. However, once you reach home and spray it on the next day, the perfume fails to give you that amazing performance as was mentioned by the sales representative. This can happen with a lot of people who are not aware of the terms associated with the perfumes. Instead of being cheated by perfume sellers, you can make an informed choice.

One such basic terminology, which is used often while buying a perfume, is EDT and EDP. EDT is Eau de toilette and EDP is Eau de Parfum. Both are types of perfumes and almost all the brands sell them at a good price. Although both feel the same way, look the same way and packed in the same way, if you are planning to buy the Best Perfume in India, you need to understand the difference. Parfum, EDP, EDT, and EDC and so on, all these types are differentiated on the base of perfume oil concentration mixed in the base.

Between these two general types, EDP or Eau de Parfum is one of the best types of perfumes. It contains 15-20% of perfume concentration mixed in the base, which is often alcohol. These perfumes are quite clean and give a fragrance lasting for about 8-10 hours. If you are planning to buy a perfume and want it to last for long hours, this is the one for you.

EDT or Eau de Parfum comes after this with 5-15% of perfume oil concentration mixed in the base. It can last up to 4-6 hours leaving a faint fragrance behind. Most of the masculine fragrances are available in this category.

However, if you are thinking that having less perfume oil concentration makes EDT or EDC for that matter any less than EDP, well you are wrong. All these categories are decided on the basis of ingredients present in them and the time of the day it is targeted. Most of the perfumes meant for all day long are EDP. However, if you want a different perfume for the night as well as day, you need to stick to EDT.

Even the ingredients used for both are also different targeting your olfactory senses differently. Hence, you need to smell the perfume and choose it depending on your requirement. Happy perfume shopping!
